"I want her to suffer! Just like I've suffered!" my son muttered darkly.
Again, I had to stifle my chuckles. You see, as a Parenting Trainer, I can always see how CUTE people really are (even if they're in the throes of hate or a tantrum!).
I can always see the best in people, and I LOVE guiding them back to who they really are (all of you are lovely, beautiful beings).
** So, what happened in this case? Well, my son and his friend both forgot to hand up their homework. However, the teacher only punished my son and turned a blind eye to the friend.
Well, my son was indignant (naturally so!) and angry (he was furious!).
Do's:
✅ Focus on helping them feel better - emphasize the importance of correction and learning from the mistake!
✅ Explain that life can get complicated, but the best way to enjoy it is to always do the right thing, despite what goes on around us
Don't:
❌ Tell them that life is unfair, and to suck it up!
❌ Leave them to deal with their emotions alone. Kids often make the wrong/dangerous assumptions when left to struggle alone
Did your own Parents dismiss your indignation? It's time to break the pattern. Reach out to me if you're in this situation, or if you know someone who could use some tools and support.
